Eye bags don’t just look unsightly but can also signal underlying problems. So, here are some tips that will not only diminish your eye bags but may also help with other problems like sleep deprivation.
1. Take It Easy On The Salt
Salt causes fluid retention in your body. This is why you’d notice that when you eat a lot of salty food you feel and look heavier the next day. That’s usually just water weight; it makes you plump everywhere in your body including your eye bags. So if you think your eye bags are becoming puffier despite getting enough rest and shut eye, try taking you salty food consumption down a notch.
2. Exercise
Working out keeps your body in tip top shape, we all know this. But what we don’t know is that it also reduces the signs of aging like eye bags because it improves blood circulation and eliminates excess fluid throughout the body.
3. Use Cucumber
Sure you probably see people putting cucumber on their eyes so much that it almost seems like a fad. But guess what, this really works. This is because of the cooling effect that it can do in your eyes. To make it even more effective, refrigerate two slices for about 5-10 minutes before applying them over your eyes and then let them sit there for 3o minutes.
4. Cut Back On Booze
Alcohol dehydrates your body and skin which can cause the delicate area around your eyes to appear sunken and dark. Also, alcohol can lead to bloodshot and tired eyes. Limit your alcohol intake and up your water intake. The skin around your eyes will glow when your body is well-hydrated.
5. Essential Oil
If you haven’t seen results after using eye creams, try essential oils. Applying fennel, lavender or rosemary essential oils can help lower inflammation and regenerate the skin around the eyes. Just make sure you don’t apply close to your lids or get them inside your eyes.
6. Tea Bags
Using tea bags soaked in chamomile tea is also a very effective home remedy for eye bags. It helps in draining out all the excess fluid. Moisten the tea bags and then chill them in the refrigerator. Use them later to cover your eyes and relax for 15-20 minutes.
7. Seek Chiropractic Care
Although this is not the only reason, most of the time people develop eye bags due to lack of sleep. Or they may be getting a lot of sleep but the quality of the sleep isn’t good. If this is the case for you, regular chiropractic care can help increase the quality of your sleep. By simply putting your body back in proper alignment it will restore function of the body systems and help wind down and relax your body which leads to more and better sleep.
