7 Ways To Eat And Stay Healthy Even While On Vacation

We all love vacation because it helps us get away from work for a while and relax. However, it’s also easy to just let loose too much, especially when it comes to our health. For some reason, we tend to think of vacation as escape to everything. To avoid going off the rails to much, here are some tips to keep you on track.

1.      Plan
Meal planning is the key! Going on a vacation with no food and relying on whatever you can find on the road is a surefire way to go off the track. This is especially since fast food, which is the go to food when you’re outside, has little to no nutrients. So, to keep this from happening, better bring pre-cooked meals that don’t spoil easily and you know you’ll eat a lot like chicken salad. And then, you can plan a few meals that we will eat out of prepare local ingredients and know ahead of time exactly what I’ll need at the store. The pre-planning allows you to only bring what is needed and not have to pack things like spices and condiments since meals are pre-made.

2.      Pack Healthy Snacks
It’s easy to snack on junk foods and fast food because they’re the most accessible when you’re on a vacation. But snacking on them all the time is really not healthy. You can avoid this by bringing your own snacks! Fruits, trail mix, and pre-made energy bars are great options for this. They’re just as filling and delicious but a definitely healthier option.

3.      Pretend You’re Eating At Home
For some reason, we have this habit of disregarding our usual eating habits when we’re out on a vacation. We eat too much of everything and indulge in foods we usually avoid or limit. So, keep this in mind: If you wouldn’t eat something at home, then you shouldn’t eat it just because you’re not at home. Remember that whenever you’re about to go crazy on a snack or food.

4.      Limit Your Sugar Intake
If you’re gonna indulge in something you know you shouldn’t, make sure you think of it as a one-time treat. This way you don’t end up munching on it all the time.  Maybe it’s at the end of your trip or even in the middle, but pick one day where you plan on eating a special treat. Just don’t make it a breakfast, lunch and dinner occasional the whole time and you’ll be ok!

5.      Seek Chiropractic Care Before And After Your Trip
Flying can be stressful especially when you fly during the holiday seasons. Don’t let back or neck pain make it even worst! Pre-flight and post-flight spinal adjustments let you get comfortable aboard and get off pain-free. Chiropractors can help prepare the back for this change in activity. Chiropractors will search for and remove restrictions in the spine, which then leads to less discomfort. With regular visits, they can keep the back in a state of wellness, which may even keep the pain away in the future. If you start visits before traveling begins, it can help prepare the back and body beforehand. And if you continue the practice while traveling, it may bring about even more benefit by removing any restrictions picked up along the way.

6.      Pack The Remedies
You can never be too prepared! So don’t let bug bites, sunburn or even an ear aches ruin your vacation. This is why it’s so important that you carry a little emergency kit with you that contain ointments and pill for such things when you’re going on a vacation.

7.      Don’t Stress
Vacation is supposed to be a time to relax and rejuvenate, not make yourself crazy by counting every calorie. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t adhere to your usual fantastic regimen. Just try to make the best food choices you can and above all ENJOY YOURSELF!
